Quarter 1
In Orchestra we are learning how to read music notes and how long we have to play them. We are also learning what some symbols meant and why they are there, while learning this we got a music piece called Roundelay. Right now I can read almost all the music notes. I actually think learning the notes are easy but some symbols are hard to read. Roundelay in D is going to be one of our music page we are going to play in a concert in December. So far I know almost all my music notes and I already learned how to long to play them.
Quarter 2
In my Orchestra class we were getting prepared to preform to our parents at a concert. This was my first concert I had to preform at. So once the class was on stage we played our strings for the teacher to tune them. After that we got ready and played. My teacher showed us how low or how high we had to play. I learned a little bit more about playing in a concert and how you have to pay attention to the teacher to see how low or high to play while at the same time looking at the music.
Quarter 3
In my Orchestra class we learned how to tune our instruments. First we had a person play one of their strings and then we play and compare the sound. So say they play the A string we hear it then we play afterwards and hear if our string is flat or sharp. Then we move the tuning knobs. This has helped me a lot because now I don't need to ask my teacher to tune my instrument that much anymore.
Quarter 4
In my Orchestra class we are learning how to play G, D, and C major scale. We are learning how to play this because it is an advanced string requirement. All you have to do is play an open note one finger then three finger then four finger on the string while you are playing. Say we are playing D major scale you start on the C string on the cello with one finger then two then four fingers you move on to the G string, play open g then one finger then three then four. You move on to the D string, play open d then one finger three finger then four finger. You move on to the A string play open a then one finger then three fingers then four fingers then you go up starting with three fingers on a then one finger Then move on to d string but with four fingers then three then one and then open d and and just keep on going down until you get to one finger on the c string and then your done. At first I didn't know how to play the G, C, and D major scale, but now I do from all that practicing.
